I can see I’m in a minority here, at least so far. But I really would like to be told why Katherine Mansfield is better than, well, not Virginia Woolf in particular but, you know, all the writers she’s better than in general. Because nearly every book or essay on short stories that you read says that she’s one of the great short story writers and I’m afraid I’ve never really been able to see it. I’m sure it’s because I haven’t read enough of her stories.
