When you were posting fiction regularly on Medium, I wasn’t in any doubt that you were one of the top two or three fiction writers on the platform (at least among the ones I was aware of). But I felt that you were inclined to push too hard, to force your writing, as if you were afraid it would dry up if you didn’t have a challenge to produce so many words every day. I thought that you needed to ease off a bit, and let the writing come at its own pace. It’s good that you’ve had a hiatus of two years, and new experiences. I didn’t know that your day job had been teaching journalism, where deadlines and constant productivity are often the paramount considerations. Software development (where everything seems to take longer than you think it ought to, at least in my limited experience) may be a much better fit. Good luck, and happy writing.
